Letters from Norwegian author Alexander Kielland to his daughter Beate. Pages mostly uncut. The wraps show edgewear and soil, with a few tiny chips. Bookplate of Norwegian-American collector Herman Gimmestad to the front cover verso, otherwise unmarked (and likely unread). Quite readable if one wishes to cut the pages. Still tightly bound. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall

Decorah: Den Norske Synodes Forlag, 1901. Hardcover. Fair. Hardcover bound in black cloth with leather spine and corners. Gilt cross on the cove and gilt lettering on the spine. There is some discoloration on the cover. There first 39 pages have a dark spot on the outer margin of the pages. Hinges are tight, but there is an open crack between the title page and the first page.

Young Anders, a Norwegian immigrant, moves to Wheatland, Minnesota in 1954, where he runs into anti-immigrant feelings while trying to make a life for himself. A fine copy, corners sharp, clean and unmarked; the dust wrapper shows only a trace of edgewear, with no rips, chips or clips. Clean, tight and unmarked; jacket in mylar.

Bound in gray cloth with titles and decorations stamped in gilt. Corresponding 1911 dates to the title and copyright pages; no additional printings. 230 pages, with two photographs. Decorated endpapers; all edges marbled. Bergliot Ibsen was Bjornson's daughter, who married Henrik Ibsen's son Sigurd. She had a career singing as a mezzosoprano in Europe, and late in life wrote a biography of her father, mother and husband. The letters here, received at her home at Aulestad, Norway, were written between 1887 and 1890. This copy has light bumps at the heel and upper rear corner, but is otherwise fine. Some darkening to the cover. Inside of the front cover contains the bookplate of noted Scandanavian collector Herman Gimmestad. The title page and book cover title are somewhat different. 'Barndomsminder Og Andre Smaasttykker en Barnebog' is the cover on the book. The title page shows 'Barneminder og Andre Smaastubber for Barn'.

Illustrated throughout with full and partial-page engravings. Presentation copy to Lars M. Gimmestad, president of Gale College (Wisconsin), from the author, but not signed. Doving is best remembered as a translator of hymns; this is an early work, published before the author graduated from Luther College. The wraps show a touch of foxing at the fore-edge and spine, otherwise clean and bright. A clean, tight copy. Scarce. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall
