A 19th century Army officer and ethnologist relates his experiences and observations regarding the customs of the Hopi Indians, mistakenly called Moqui Indians at that time, focusing particularly on the 16-day ritual known as the snake dance. Bourke was an amazing character even had Sigmund Freud write an introduction to his work on scatology.
