Boston: Bruce Humphries, Inc, 1938. Hardcover. 311p., 5.75x8 inch original light blue cloth boards with titling stamped in darker blue; lacking dustjacket, spine appears to have some light foxing, corners slightly bumped, otherwise in very good condition. Signed and inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper. Historical novel sharing perspectives from both sides of the Civil War. "Facts relating to the War between the States and the question of States' rights are still controversial, so a few personal words may not be amiss. My father was one of four brothers who fought in the Confederate Army.... My mother was from Ohio and her relatives and friends were in the Northern Army, so from my earliest childhood I heard both sides, and in writing this historical novel I have earnestly tried to keep in the middle of the road," (p. 7).
