Clermont-Ferrand, France: Michelin & Cie, 1919. Hardcover. Very Good/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with can barely be called a dust jacket. DJ is in multiple pieces and is heavily chipped and torn, though both front and rear are present (more or less) as well as both flaps. Despite the extremely rough condition of the DJ it has done a very good job in protecting the cover of the book. Tan cloth thin boards are mostly clean though cloth has a few bubbles on both sides. Interior binding is good though fragile. The front hinge started to crack along the top half when we were taking pictures. Pages are tone due to age and some minor spotting and foxing is present. An pages and pastedowns are yellowed but show vintage artwork of Michelin advertisements. No signatures or bookplates present, no handwriting or any other markings found. The pieces of the dust jacket have been placed in a protective sleeve to prevent any further damage.

Text is clean and tight, but does have some light age-toning. Part of the Michelin Guides to the Battle-Fields (1914-1918) series. Illustrated end-papers, 114 pages, illustrated with numerous B/W photos and maps. A nice copy .

Profusely illustrated throughout with numerous maps and black and white photographs. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a vertical crease to the lower board. The contents with a contemporary owner's inscription (dated 1921) in pencil to the title page, pencil annotations stating causality numbers to one of the maps, and a tear with slight loss to the blank corner of one page (with a little paper adhesion to the facing page) are otherwise in very good order and clean throughout. Complete with the very good or thereabouts dustwrapper which has some loss to the head of the spine/rear panel, a 4cm tear to the head of the front panel, and a few small nicks and creases to the extremities.
