Chicago, Ilinois: R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company, 1913. Lakeside Classic . Hardcover. Good. There is wear and chipping at the head and tail of the spine and wear at the corners. On the spine the lettering is easily readable but not sharp. On the front cover the Lakeside emblem and border ( in gilt) are rather sharp. Inside the front cover some hinges are separating at the bottom. 137 pages, plus a 23 page historical introduction, the gilt on the top pages is faded, the outer edge of the pages are deckled. The frontispiece is a portrayal of Chicago in 1853 and the tissue guard is in place and not torn. There are no owner names, or bookplates. I find no underlining, no highlighting, no dogeared pages, not ex-libris, no smudges. For a century old plus volume it is in decent shape. Available for immediate shipment; carefully packed!

The Lakeside Classics Series were published once a year at Christmas given as gifts to employees. frontispiece, 137pp., bound in green cloth stamped in gilt, spine lettering and top edge gilt, all others uncut, very minor wear to spine ends and light rub marks to rear board. A very nice copy of one of the early "green" cloth copies which changed to red in 1927.

Very good. Faintest edgewear, with upper corner bumped but all gilt bright and sharp -- tight and internally fine. Quite nice copy of this early "Lakeside Classic," the annual keepsake given by this printer and publisher to friends and clients starting in 1903. This volume features contributions from William Bross, Charles Cleaver and famed actor Joseph Jefferson. Early Lakeside from their "green period" -- the first 24 years -- have become rather scarce in recent years.
