London: John Van Voorst, 1856. Third edition of this work on British birds eggs with descriptions of their nests and identdification. 532 pages over the two volumes in overall clean condition just some browning to first and last couple of pages in each volume, occasional small foxing spots and small marks. All 145 numbered coloured plates are present with a couple of extra plates with a star after the number. Bindings are sound but with a few small splits to endpapers at hinges, outer boards are worn on corners with small patches of boards showing through. Tops and bottoms of spines are more heavily worn with small losses and small split to top rear hige of volume one 1½ inches long. HEAVY BOOKS 1.9 Kg with strong packing EXTRA POSTAGE REQUIRED FOR OVERSEAS. Though not perfect a sound pair of volumes with splendid illustrations SEE IMAGE. DETAILED IMAGES AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.. Newcastle Upon Tyne: Published for the author by Charles Empson (v.1) and Currie and Bowman (v.2). Hardcover. Leather spines faded out and rubbed through at the tips, all extremeties well worn with corners through to the boards, scuffing to marbled boards, hinges cracking on both volumes, minor foxing to the interior with only a few plates affected. Still a handsome set to behold. (1831-1838) 2 vols., 1/2 green leather with gilt decoration over marbled boards, all edges gilt, 169 coloured plates. Contains the book plates of Dixon Dixson Esq. (the original subscriber to the work) along with that of ornithologist John Eliot Thayer. Also has name stamp of Prof. Richard F. Johnston.
