Previous owners name on inside cover). Gold illus. wraps; 254 pp.; 63 figures, 140 plates, mostly bw but a few color. Issued in conjunction with a 1982-1983 series of exhibitions of Buddhist art. With five thematic and illustrated essays, including "The Himalayas and the Fall of Religion" by Frits Saal, "India in the Chinese Looking-Glass" by Michael Strickmann, and "Buddhism in North India and the Western Himalayas--Seventh to Thirteenth Centuries" by David L. Snellgrove. The annotated and illustrated catalogue presents 140 specific pieces. Includes glossary and bibliography.
