About This Item
London: Michael Joseph Ltd, (1944). First edition. The third volume in his trilogy (first two volumes were HERSELF SURPRISED, 1941, and TO BE A PILGRIM, 1942). HORSE'S MOUTH follows the adventures of Gulley Jimson, an artist who exploits his friends and acquaintances to earn a quid. Made into a 1958 movie with script by Cary and Alec Guinness, starring Guinness and Kay Walsh. Very good in red cloth; in dust jacket with long tears along front spine fold and front flap fold backed with tape, front panel a little wrinkled and few small chips and closed tears. Still, a presentable example of this scarce jacket.
