About This Item

New York: Leo. Feist, Inc, 1925. Sheet_music. 5p., illustrated covers, wraps. 12.25 x 9.25 in. Small tear half way down the fore-edge of the leaf insert, not affecting score or lyrics. Minor wear; Very Good. A popular song with lyrics that both defend sex work and critique lax morals. The cover illustration shows a woman in flapper garb against a background showing a dramatic sentencing in a courtroom. Despite the Jazz Age design the song is remembered for performances by singing cowboy and western types (e.g. Hank Williams). Marketed as a tie-in with a serialized story.
