Reprint of the 1881 first issue in photo-facsimile. xxi, 174p., illustrated with two fold-out maps bound in at the rear (reasonably good reproductions), hardbound in 9x5.5 inch bright red cloth boards gilt with a printed black spine-label field. Enclosed in the dust jacket. Book itself has a small sprinkle of foxing to top edge, and top rim is slightly crimped. Dj a little edgeworn with a scrape to spine. Perfectly sound and unmarked, a very good copy. Cass library of African studies, travels and narratives no. 66.
