Blue cloth in good condition; spine is darkened with dull gilt, some wear to edges, small old bookshop sticker to front pastedown, frontis tissue is missing, fore edge of pages browned, tiny bit of foxing to rear endpaper. Top edge gilt. No dust jacket. 5.75 x 9 in., 338 pp. This is considered by many to be the best history of pre-19th century mountaineering in the Alps.
