About This Item

NY: Atheneum, 1976. First Edition. . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. SIGNED by the author (without inscription) on the title page. For the past thirty years or so Furst has been writing superb espionage thrillers set in Europe in the years leading up to and beginning WWII. He has pretty much disowned his four earlier novels, including this one, his first, which were quite different. The title, by the way, comes from the punchline of what has to be one of the world's earliest dirty jokes, which is provided in its entirety after the title page. And for Furst aficionados who haven't seen it, the jacket photo of a young, hirsute, and (according to a reliable source) stoned out of his gourd Furst, is a must see. Near fine in a near fine dustjacket. Not priceclipped and no markings.
