Enormous U.S. Department Of Agriculture yearbook for 1897 containing a wealth of authoritative articles and technical reports designed to aid the American farmer. Sample subjects include Public Education For The Farmer In The United States, The Fruit Industry, Birds That Injure Grain, Fertilizers, Lawns And Lawn Making, Hybrids And Plant Breeding, Leguminous Forage Crops, Dangers Of Importing Insect Pests, Agricultural Production And Prices, Soil Problems, Edible And Poisonous Fungi (by W.G. Farlow), etc. Profusely illustrated throughout with photos, in-text figures, and full-page color lithographic plates by D.G. Passmore of grapes, prune plums, figs, olives, almonds, hybrid carnations, and an Amanita mushroom, plus nine additional black & white lithographic plates of numerous other mushroom species. Near Fine. Clean, crisp, bright, sharp, binding tight, sound, and square, no ownership signatures or any other markings of any kind.
