London: Longman Green, Longman and Roberts, 1863. . 8vo, royal blue textured publisher's cloth, gilt on front cover and spine; spine somewhat darkened; some wear to extremities and over hinges. Samuel Robert Graves (1818 Ð1873) was an Irish-born businessman and Conservative Member of Parliament for Liverpool from 1865-1873. He was mayor of that city in 1861 Graves was a shipowner and Commodore of the Royal Mersey Yacht Club and a Member of the Royal Commission to inquire into the management of Lights, Buoys, and Beacons. He was, in addition, a director of the London and North Western Railway.
