London: Walter Scott, 1896. 1st ed. . Hardcover. VG/No Jacket (none issued). 13 Cm X 19 Cm. Issued in 'The Contemporary Science Series' (ed. by Ellis himself). (4, series list)+xiv+409+(18, pub.lists and notices); no obvious internal faults Dark red cloth covers clean and basically unworn but a 0.5 cm hole in cloth lower front joint a slight rub higher up and a few tiny spots of pigment loss lower front, small dent to spine which is just a tad faded. A quite acceptable copy of the 1st ed. of this influential work which went into several later editions, the 1914 5th exceeding 500 pp. on main text, these actually document an evolution in Ellis's position away from orthodox sexual stereotyping.
