James Barrie. First edition published by James Barrie in 1951. This is a very good copy. The superb Philip Gough dust wrapper has not been price clipped displaying 10s 6d net. There is a small amount of loss to the top of the spine and atear to the top edge of the back panel. The is edge wear to the spine ends and corners. On the reverse of the jacket there are archival tape repairs. The corners of the book have been gently pushed. The spine is a shade faded. The author has inscribed to a previous owner, and signed and dated it in the year of publication.  A later collection of supernatural short stories by Cynthia Asquith. She was the author of other well regarded short story collections such  as The Ghost Book and This Mortal Coil. According to the blurb on the jacket: "Connoisseurs of the macabre will revel in the frightening apparitions that haunt the pages of these nine stories". A rare book to find signed by the author along with the superb jacket. . Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1951.

Otherwise it is as new and is not price clipped. The book is square and firm. There are a few foxing marks to the upper text block. There are no inscriptions, foxing or ink to the pages. Overall a near fine copy and rare to find signed without dedication by Raymond Briggs to the title page. Briggs' story about his parents that has been adapted to TV. A rare book signed.  . Near Fine. Faber & Faber. First edition published by Faber and Faber in 1932. A very good or better copy. The fragile wrapper has been price clipped, otherwise it is all there. The spine has browned and there is some wear to the spine ends. There is a tear to the bottom of the lower flap and this has been repaired on the reverse by archival tape. The green boards are in nice shape and the book is square. The purple top stain is visible and has not faded. There is light and sporadic foxing to the side text block. There is no writing inside and no bookplates.  The Last Medici is the first of three biographies Harold Acton wrote about historical Italian families: the Medicis and the Bourbons.  Acton in this first volume discusses the Medici grand dukes and in particular their final undoing.   .
