About This Item

New York: The Community Church, 1941. Softcover. Near Fine. First edition. 20pp. Stapled wrappers. Modestly age-toned, still a fine copy. John Haynes Holmes, born in Philadelphia and went on to minister in New York City. Being a Unitarian and a pacifist he helped to start the NAACP and went on to become a chairman for the ACLU. This is his sermon preached on New Year's Sunday, December 29, 1940. Giving examples of pastors imprisoned in concentration camps and finding joy in the most distressful of situations. Scarce, *OCLC* locates no copies.
