London: Frederick Warne. 1905. First series, octavo, original cloth boards, upper board decorated in gilt and black, gilt and black spine, 127 coloured plates, decorated endapers, pp 176 (plus plates). Previous owner's insccription, dated 1905. Some rubbing to edges, small area of fraying and fading foot of spine. Occasional pressed flowers in book, Very good condition. Charmingly illustrated guide to wildflowers. The first series, 394 species are described. Edward Step (1855 -931) was the author of many popular and specialist books on various aspects of nature. Some of his books were illustrated by his daughter, Mabel Emily Step, including the 1905 "Wayside and Woodland Blossoms" Boards.
