New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1944. 335p., hardcover in edgeworn dustjacket, front hinge starting, inscribed by Burlingame "For Edgar Sisson, Pleasant memories and cordial greetings," with an additional typed and signed latter laid in thanking Sisson for his response to the book. Sisson, a former magazine editor (most recently at Cosmopolitan), had joined the US foreign publicity effort during World War I to rouse international sympathy for American objectives. He was appointed the Russian representative of the United States Committee on Public Information.
