Preistley moved with his wife and his entire household into a rented house at Daytona Beach. Intriguied by the idea of his favourite orchestra's cultivated brass and percussion competing with Daytona's torrid honky-tonk, he had decided to record for posterity the second visit of the London Symphony to the Florida International Music Festival.
