About This Item
The Birgit Skiold Memorial Trust (1983 ]. Birgit Skiöld (1923-1982) was a Swedish printmaker, heralded as one of the most important printmakers of the 20th century. From 1958 until her death in May 1982, Birgit ran the highly successful Print Workshop in the basement of 28 Charlotte Street, London. The workshop was the first open-access professional print workshop in England. After the death of the artist, 'A Tribute to Birgit Skiold' was produced to raise funds for the Birgit Skiold Memorial Trust in 1983. 118 artists from various countries contributed free of charge an edition of 25 prints in the 30 x 30 cm format, to create a portfolio of three volumes. The artists featured in this portfolio were taught by or worked with Skiöld. What we offer here is the third volume of the portfolios containing 36 (of 43) prints, numbered 76-118; lacking 7, that is numbers 77, 90, 92, 97, 102, 106, & 107. But with the addition of two prints from the second portfolio, being: John Hubbard, untitled, etching 21/25 & Andrew Logan, "Path to Heaven", etching 21/25.Each print is numbered 18/25* and signed by the artist. In excellent condition and contained in the original blue cloth over boards drop-down box with loosely inserted printed title/index/numbered limitation leaf. The prints are:76.
