New York: The Viking Press. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket. 1962. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Hardcover. Hardcover with dustjacket, first printing a indicated by "Published in 1962 by the Viking Press, Inc." with no other printings listed on copyright page, the off-white cloth has mild tanning on the spine and edges and there is a faint, narrow damp-mark at the top fore-edge of the pages which looks the same as mild tanning and has caused no other damage, the binding is clean and tight and the text is fine, the jacket is price-clipped, the number "349" has been written in ink at the top and bottom corner of the front flap, tanning is present on the spine and along the folds, moderate edge-wear at the spine-ends, and the rear panel shows some mild wrinkling, the jacket remains presentable (please see our photos) and a professional (removable) mylar cover is included .
Synopsis
Travels with Charley: In Search of America is a travelogue by American author John Steinbeck. It documents the road trip he took with his French standard poodle Charley around the United States, in 1960. He wrote that he was moved by a desire to see his country on a personal level, since he made his living writing about it.
