About This Item
Perisse Frères, 1842. Hardcover. Good. 10 x 17 cm. Boards have rubbed corners and scuffed on the back. Leather spine is rubbed but the embossed gilt features are still legible. Text is lightly foxed with the spotting faint and mostly concentrated in page foredges (not visible on page edges which are blue marbled). Binding is tight with no apparent cracks or gaps, however two gatherings are pulled so the foredge is not square (note that this is printing defect, they are not loose or protruding past the board edges). Pencil scribblings on FFEP otherwise unmarked. Iconic title of the genre, widely reprinted in its day, few copies have survived.
