New York: The James A. McCann Company, 1921. xiv+264p., line map and plentiful on-site photography on inserted coated stock, first edition textured green boards gilt; mild external wear (spine lettering is dim through handling), but entirely clean and sound within, and inscribed and signed by Vanden Bergh on the ffep. Despite qualms generated by the ill-chosen frontispiece (author posing tallishly with pygmy women), Shattuck's "guided" photography is quite good, if not well-reproduced.
