New York: Rosenbach, 1952. Limited edition. Hardcover. Very good condition. Limited Edition of 300 copies of which this is number 7. The complete 5 volume set on the collection of the tobacco magnate, George Arents, consisting of thousands of books, manuscripts, a cigar store Indian, autograph letters, paintings, drawings and engravings, all having to do with the role of tobacco throughout history.
Large 4to, Vol. I: 543pp; Vol II: 564pp; Vol III: 545pp; Vol IV: 485pp; Vol V: 327pp. Illustrations throughout, some in color, portraits, maps, and diagrams. Volume I with the publisher's card announcing the printing of Volume V to subscribers; Vol IV with the supplementary chart in the rear pocket. In the original rust colored cloth with gilt titles at leather spine labels.
All volumes in very good condition, except Volume IV, with some damp marks to the foredge of the front & rear boards, very faint tide mark to foredge early leaves, some rippling of text block; Volume II with smaller damp mark foredge of boards only; Vol I with small scratch to gilt date on spine label.
