First American edition (original published as Mille Soleils by edtions Robert Laffont, [Paris], 1997). 8vo. Two-tone boards. Pp. (xiv), 482. Illustrated: (16) pp. of plates. Appendix.

The author began writing for Paris Match but soon was reporting on people and events everywhere. His most memorable book was written with Larry Collins, Is Paris Burning?, about the liberation of Paris in August 1944. Here there are reconsidertion of the many stories he covered, such as about the founding of Israel and the Spanish bullfighter, El Cordobés.
