About This Item
London: Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co Ltd, 1890. No dustwrapper, some bumping to spine ends and corners of dark red boards, also a little bit of wear to sides of spine, an old newspaper clipping (1934) pased inside front board, a previous owner's name, inkstamp and date (1929) on half-title, another owner's embossed initials on title page, but otherwise a good clean tight copy, with gilt titles on spine still clear, of this hard-cover book. Deals with the author's theory that traditional tales of fairy folk and similar in Britain actually refer to aboriginal inhabitants displaced by later migrations of peoples. Also that the seal folk of legend are really Eskimos who were swept far off course in their kayaks. 205pp, 20 b&w illustrations.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
