London: Andre Deutsch, 1964. First UK Edition . Blue Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Updike's second book of verse after 'The Carpentered Hen'. 66 poems in all, 47 of which have been published in the New Yorker. Blue cloth covered boards have gilt text on spine. Book is slightly cocked, spine ends rubbed and there is an 1/2" abrasion on rear panel. Price clipped DJ has edge and shelf wear including scuffing, closed tears, yellowing and a small hole on rear panel that corresponds with abrasion. Book is from the collection of theToronto poet/author, Greg Gatenby. His signature and the date of this title's acquisition by him are on ffep. Flatsigned and dated, 1996, by author mid ffep.
