Souvenir Press, London, 1969. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Very Good. Illustrator: John Lathey -- Cover Art. Black coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper, by John Lathey, with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. The story of Mario, raised in the decadent docks of Havana, lover of the Queen of Spain, heir to a Spanish fortune and victim of the Spanish Inquisition in the rollicking and boisterous 18th-century. A previous owner has taped a small précis of the book to the half title page: – "An Adventurous and Entertaining Story". Rubbing of the book corners and backstrip edges. Light tanning of the text block edges with quite noticeable foxing present. Age toning of the pages with faint foxing, primarily to the 1st few and last few pages of the book. Where a previous owner has placed his / her précis of the book the tape has started to discolour and bleed into the page. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with foxing and sunning to the rear panel. Some foxing spots to the fold over panels and to the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. VI, 7-560 pages..
