About This Item
Synopsis
This is a children's book about a guinea pig called Olga da Polga. Olga has the usual life experiences of a guinea pig - being sold from a pet shop, getting a hutch, encountering a cat, being exhibited at a pet show and so on, but is capable of understanding human speech (within the limits of her experience). She has a lively imagination and often spins tall tales to the other animals - for example the story of how guinea pigs lost their tails, and how they once reached the moon by climbing on each other's backs. The story gently incorporates information about how to care for guinea pigs: Olga is based on the Bonds' own pet.
