Book spine is straight, square, solid, no sunning, no chipping, very tiny edge wear on bottom. Dust jacket is white, lettering black, full colour pictorial illustration on front matching vignette on board. Dust jacket is price clipped, has a few tiny creases at top of spine and no rips or edge wear but something got splashed near the book and the dust jacket has some light brown stain mostly on top edge and some long thin splash lines on back, spine of dj is lightly stained, the inside of the front flap top edge had been stuck to the inside front cover and is now free but has light staining to inside of dj front flap and a bit of surface paper was pulled off, the inside of the back flap top edge is still stuck to the inside back cover board. Book boards and spine are flat, clean, bright, no rips, no bent corners, no spine creases, no sunning, there are two small creases at top of spine corner from a light bruise, front board has a tiny white spot at upper right corner, back board has the top edge of the dust jacket stuck to it from whatever liquid was splashed, front board and spine and most of back board are in Fine shape. Page top edges slightly sunned, rest clean, bright. Inner end papers are white with 6 lovely colour illustrations, front end papers are damaged on the top 5/8 inch where their surface paper has pulled away when dust jacket was unstuck, back end papers have only one small damage spot at top edge but dust jacket is still stuck to inside back board. Inside of book is tight, clean, bright, clear, flat. From front to page 15 the pages had been stuck together along the top edge in a narrow band so there is a thin line of varying heights where the paper surface is damaged. The rest of the book is not as bad with some pages having no damage and some having a very thin partial bit at the top edge. Page 58-59 are still stuck together at the top edge. Book is over-opened at page 14 and binding shows a bit but is not broken and no pages are loose or missing. It is a lovely little book and perhaps a light professional treatment to free the dust jacket and remove the stuck on bits will restore it well. Book 6 marked on dust jacket spine, number 909-1160 marked on dust jacket back flap, number 652-859 marked in book on back of title page. 28 Full colour plates with wonderful illustrations.

Synopsis

To celebrate Peter's birthday, Frederick Warne is publishing new editions of all 23 of Potter's original tales, which take the very first printings of Potter's works as their guide. The aim of these editions is to be as close as possible to Beatrix Potter's intentions while benefiting from modern printing and design techniques. The colors and details of the watercolors in the volumes are reproduced more accurately than ever before, and it has now been possible to disguise damage that has affected the artwork over the years. Most notably, The Tale of Peter Rabbit restores six of Potter's original illustrations. Four were sacrificed in 1903 to make space for illustrated endpapers, and two have never been used before. Of course, Beatrix Potter created many memorable children's characters, including Benjamin Bunny, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-duck and Jeremy Fisher. But whatever the tale, both children and adults alike can be delighted by the artistry in Potter's illustrations, while they also enjoy a very good read. Because they have always been completely true to a child's experience, Potter's 23 books continue to endure.

WILLOWBAY BOOKS

THERE IS NO COVID-19 IN MY STORE AND MY SALES ARE ONLINE ONLY. IMPORTANT NOTE RE POSTAGE: I love books and most of my books are NEW or LIKE NEW. I'm very careful in describing my books accurately and I've done so to the best of my ability using the IOBA Book Condition guidelines. All items are from a smoke-free, clean, dry environment. My books are from a large private collection, very well taken care of and rarely handled. All descriptions and photos are of the actual books I'm selling. I'm happy to answer any questions regarding my books, just ask. IMPORTANT RE POSTAGE: I'm in Canada so books to the USA/Other Countries are International shipments and may be delayed by CUSTOMS and/or HOMELAND SECURITY. I'm using the Biblio standard postage matrix, which gives average postage fees, therefore sometimes for an OVERSIZE or LARGE heavy book or expensive book, the postage may be too low and may require extra charges. If I know this in advance, I will notify the buyer before the order is processed.

This is not a huge book warehouse, it is a small one-owner store run by a true book lover. POSSIBLE DELAYS: I'm elderly and disabled and while this usually does not cause a delay in order processing, it sometimes may cause a small delay for me to get to the post office. Thanks for your understanding. I will always email you with the date your package was shipped, and shipping method used.

I'm sure you'll enjoy looking through my books, and purchasing from WILLOWBAY BOOKS. Thanks. Ms. Bronwen Kathy Williams, Ontario, Canada.
