Description:
NY: Knopf, 1965. First edition, first prnt. Signed by Tyler on the title page. Laid in is a typed note with ink signature on 6x7 inch 20lb stock. "Louise: here is a peculiar little book which I was suppose (sic) to review but couldn't think of anything to say about -- which is not to say I didn't like it. But it left me baffled. See what you think. It's coming out this month. Behave yourself. Either get rid of the whiskey or the scatter rugs. I know what I'd do. Love, (indecipherable first name signature - could be "Helen")." The front board has a faint rust mark left by a paperclip; otherwise it is an exceptionally clean, tight copy; the dustjacket has the upper corners just touched, mildly sunned spine and a shallow paperclip impression on the front panel upper edge - see scan. The note (which obviously does not refer to the novel)is folded in half with few shallow wrinkles. Near Fine condition in a Very Good dustjacket with an archival cover. Tyler's second… Read More

Description:
1843 1ed Crusoniana Juan Fernandez Islands Robinson Crusoe Selkirk Shipwreck
'Crusoniana' is a rare, 19th-century historical account of the South Pacific island which inspired the famed story 'Robinson Crusoe'. Known today as the Juan Fernandez Islands, this island famously housed marooned sailor Alexander Selkirk, whose story became the basis for Defoe's famous epic.
Written by Thomas Sutcliffe, 'Crusoniana'
covers the life and shipwreck of Selkirk, who eventually became the governor of the Juan Fernandez Islands.
This impressive first edition is known to be quite valuable much in part to the fine, full-page engravings.

Paris: Edward W. Titus, 1932. Limited Edition. Octavo. 146 pages. Number 231 of 500 copies with the rare #231 slip laid in at the limitation page. The major critics continue to quote the insights of Anais Nin whose understanding of Lawrence was not only a remarkable example of modernism but also courageous feminism which even today shows insights that continue to be discussed in the D.H. Lawrence Journal. John Erskine, who was an anti-feminist writer was quoted: "I am amazed at the scholarly and critical reaches--which theoretically no woman should possess." Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Description:
New York: Random House, 1959. Book. Illus. by Sam March (dust jacket design). Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition.. Small octavo. Humes's second novel, following 'The Underground City,' both of which led to his being considered by Esquire magazine as having the same promise as two obscure guys named Updike and Styron (whoever they are). Anyway, he met a guy named Leary who introduced him to a little substance known as LSD, and after seriously indulging his fondness for the hallucinogen he became a trifle paranoid and a bit delusional, which pretty much ended his writing career. Humes was co-founder (with Peter Matthiessen and George Plimpton) of The Paris Review. He died of prostate cancer in 1992. Black cloth w/gilt lettering, 184 pages. Mildly cocked, light general wear, in price-clipped dust jacket w/light rubbing, light edgewear, creases to fore-edges of both flaps..
