Description:
NY: Knopf, 1965. First edition, first prnt. Signed by Tyler on the title page. Laid in is a typed note with ink signature on 6x7 inch 20lb stock. "Louise: here is a peculiar little book which I was suppose (sic) to review but couldn't think of anything to say about -- which is not to say I didn't like it. But it left me baffled. See what you think. It's coming out this month. Behave yourself. Either get rid of the whiskey or the scatter rugs. I know what I'd do. Love, (indecipherable first name signature - could be "Helen")." The front board has a faint rust mark left by a paperclip; otherwise it is an exceptionally clean, tight copy; the dustjacket has the upper corners just touched, mildly sunned spine and a shallow paperclip impression on the front panel upper edge - see scan. The note (which obviously does not refer to the novel)is folded in half with few shallow wrinkles. Near Fine condition in a Very Good dustjacket with an archival cover. Tyler's second…

London: Remington & Co Publishers, 1890. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. 8vo. pp. [vi], 270. Original grey cloth binding with black lettering and decoration to the front board, gilt lettering to the spine, a little general wear and some rubbing to extremities and joints, a couple of pin-prick holes to the front joint, cloth a little marked. Contents clean and tight, original patterned end papers to both front and back, somewhat browned also affecting the half-title page, paper to front hinge partially cracked but expertly repaired, contemporary pencil name and address to head of half-title page. The major critics continue to quote the insights of Anais Nin whose understanding of Lawrence was not only a remarkable example of modernism but also courageous feminism which even today shows insights that continue to be discussed in the D.H. Lawrence Journal. John Erskine, who was an anti-feminist writer was quoted: "I am amazed at the scholarly and critical reaches--which theoretically no woman should possess." The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Description:
New York: Random House, 1959. Book. Illus. by Sam March (dust jacket design). Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition.. Small octavo. Humes's second novel, following 'The Underground City,' both of which led to his being considered by Esquire magazine as having the same promise as two obscure guys named Updike and Styron (whoever they are). Anyway, he met a guy named Leary who introduced him to a little substance known as LSD, and after seriously indulging his fondness for the hallucinogen he became a trifle paranoid and a bit delusional, which pretty much ended his writing career. Humes was co-founder (with Peter Matthiessen and George Plimpton) of The Paris Review. He died of prostate cancer in 1992. Black cloth w/gilt lettering, 184 pages. Mildly cocked, light general wear, in price-clipped dust jacket w/light rubbing, light edgewear, creases to fore-edges of both flaps..
