The first printing of the first edition of this collection, notable for the first appearance in book form of both the title story and "Elizabeth Brownrigge." There also is a "revised and considerably enlarged" annotated bibliography of Thackeray's works. The book is clean, bright, and tight, with lightly toned pages, a hint of fraying at head & foot of spine, and a 3/8" closed tear in cloth at foot of the front gutter.. First Edition. Hardcover. Collectible-Very Good ++/No Dust Jacket as Issued.. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
