Beautifully designed and printed by the Grabhorn Press. Warmly inscribed by Wood and Fields to the important American sculptor Lawrence Tenney Stevens and his wife Priscilla. The image of Sherlock Holmes holding a hypodermic needle is by Indiana caricaturist Paul M. McCall. The broadside is in very good condition: clean and bright, with just a hint of toning and a couple of 1/8 inch edge tears in the margins and well away from the text and image.. First Edition. Williamsburg, Virginia: Printing Office of Colonial Williamsburg, 1970. 15 pages. A facsimile reprint hand set in Caslon type and printed on a 200 year old press by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. It was the first in a series of reprints published by the Colonial Williamsburg Printing office. Widely considered the first book on printing published in Virginia, Typographia commemorated the establishment of the first printing press in the colony, the press of William Parks, who published the poem in 1733.
