About This Item

Washington, D.C.: National Association for Foreign Student Affairs, 1979. Book. Good. Soft cover. First Edition. Embossed seal of previous owner on the first page. A bit of waviness to the rear cover and part of the page block. No stains or marks. 122 pages with Appendices. Based on a seminar held March 1978. Editorial Note: "The seminar on which this publication is based took place before the departure of the Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi from Iran. Thus, in some articles, the Shah's government is referred to as though it were still in power. Iranians made up the largest group of foreign students studying in the United States during the academic year 1978-1979 with estimates ranging from 30,000 to 75,000." The objective of the seminar was to provide better understanding of the cultures of the Middle East by examing the educational, social, political, economic, religious, and linguistic factors which may affect the adjustment of the students from each area to the educational institutions in the United States..
