The text is illustrated with numerous black and white/sepia toned photographs from the life and works of Erich Von Stroheim. Tan coloured cloth covered boards with gilt titles to the backstrip.Sepia photographic dustwrapper with yellow and red titles to the front panel and backstrip. The biography one of the most controversial of the Golden Age of Hollywood film directors -- Erich Von Stroheim. Starting out in his native Vienna, he then migrated to America where his films and film making style sat very uncomfortably with the America of the 1930s - 40s.  There is light browning and foxing to the text block edges and very light age toning of the internal text. A little rubbing to the dustwrapper edges and dustwrapper panels.
