Nine stories by the author, based on traditional folklore and superstitions of the Western Isles of Scotland, some are traditional tales re-told by the author, who has, according to his foreword, "often to have taken very great liberty in the way of alteration and addition". Inscribed by the author on page before half-title "To Nurse Young / with kind regards from the Author / Yarrowlea 1st Dec/38". Yarrowlea was the author's house in Selkirk. 296pp, endpapers show a map from 1570 of the West of Scotland. . Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
