About This Item

New York, New York, U.S.A.: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1953. Book Club Edition (BCE) . Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. The famed aviator's autobiographical narrative, with an hour-by-hour account of his pioneering flight across the Atlantic. In 562 pages, with Glossary, Index, photographs, flight log, & detailed engineering drawings of his plane. Hardback book has medium-blue cloth-covered boards & silver lettering on spine & plane outline on front cover; lovely endpapers reproduced from an original aquatint by Burnell Poole. First published in 1953, this is a book club edition (BCE) of that First Edition, identical in appearance save for no "A" on CR page & small emboss on rear board. Condition is VG+: extremely clean, binding tight & square, pages show very mild tanning around all edges, slight rubbing to extremities & corner bumping. The DJ is clipped at top front flap & downgraded to only Fair due to a large missing section from lower spine & lesser chipping at head of spine & all corners. Nicely protected in new nonreflective mylar cover free! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (PST); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
