About This Item

New York: IEEE Press, 1985. First Edition. Cloth. Fine/near fine. I doubt very much whether the space station could ever have been pushed through the [Reagan] Administration if it were not for the persistent and astute work of Gil Rye." A unique association copy of The Space Station: An Idea Whose Time Has Come, i. Octavo, xxiv, 295pp. Red cloth, title in gilt. No additional printings mentioned. In publisher's near fine dust jacket, light shelf wear. Inscribed on the front free endpaper: "To Craig Fuller, Who made it all happen! Gil Rye. Feb 27, 1985." Also includes a letter from Gil Rye to Fuller on National Security Council letterhead. A unique association copy in the history of the International Space Station. At the age of 34, Craig L. Fuller was asked to serve as the Chief of Staff for Vice President George H.W. Bush. He had previously served in the Reagan administration as the Assistant to the President for Cabinet Affairs. After serving as Chief of Staff for 4-years, it was assumed that Fuller would follow Bush to the White House in 1989. Shortly after the 1988 election, the President-elect told Fuller that New Hampshire Governor John H. Sununu would serve as his White House Chief of Staff. Fuller was disappointed and decided to return to the private sector, where he enjoyed a successful career in corporate and public affairs.
