Lacks the cloth covering on the spine. Therd is an owner's ink stamp on the front pastedown for "Erwin A. Holt" and an early signature on the second front flyleaf of "J. J. Erwin." The text is foxed and some pages are dog-eared but text is otherwise sound. J. J. Erwin was listed as a member of the North Carolina House of Commons from Cabarrus County.

This book is in good condition. There is some wear on the front, back, spine, edges and corner of the cover. There is some dog-earring on the right corner pages of the book. The pages are white, crisp and clear of any markings. "This is a history of the visual arts produced in the geographical area that now constitutes the United States. Such a book is difficult to title. A History of United States Art sounds awkward and logically might even be construed to exclude the arts of the colonial period. This book is in good condition. There is a lot of wear on the front, back, spine and edges of the cover boards. There is also a substantial amount of staining on the cover boards.
