About This Item
Tim Severin's classic 8 month adventure which sought to recreate Sinbad's epic journey from the Middle East to China. The 6,000 mile journey is undertaken in a ship –the Sohar- built with materials and methods from Sinbad's time. The whole thrilling adventure is here: across the Arabian Sea to India, then to Sri Lanka and Sumatra, and finally through the China Seas. Although the voyages of Sinbad were full of myth and legend, Severin shows they were undoubtedly based on the exploits of the Arab sea-faring merchants who plied the ancient spice routes to the East.
An excellent copy. Pages are clean and tidy. No marks, staining or creasing, and no inscriptions. Cloth boards are tight and clean. DJ is unclipped and unmarked with no real noticeable wear except for minor largely concealed tanning at the top and bottom of the flaps. There is a minor crease at the top of the front cover, but no tearing and barely any shelf wear. Now covered in professional clear cover. 239pp with many B&W and colour photos, drawings and maps
