About This Item
Synopsis
This “sure-to-be-classic account of 1960s desegregation” (Los Angeles Times) tells the inspiring story of the Carters, black Mississippi sharecroppers who sent their children to integrate an all-white school system. “Silver Rights is pure gold!” (Julian Bond). Introduction by Marian Wright Edelman.
Reviews
I was asked to read this book as part of a leadership class and I felt I really enjoyed it. The book was a little hard to get into, but the story was very good. I would highly recommend this book if your interested in learning about historical events from people that experienced it like the Carter family.
