Nimmons, list of illustrations, at the end of each section there is a bibliography and a general index. the text is illustrated with black-and-white photographs and illustrations. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with tilt embossed decoration – The American Institute of Architecture seal, with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Plaintext dustwrapper with navy blue coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. From the introduction page XV, "... The Committee on Education of the American Institute of Architects has produced this book for the use as a textbook in American colleges, and for general reading and study by the public, the purpose of arousing interest in the fine arts in creating a better understanding and appreciation of them." Each section / essay is penned by a different author, for example Classical Architecture has been written by C. Howard Walker and painting by Bryson Burroughs. Rubbing of the back strip edges and of the book corners. Uniform light tanning of the text block edges and pages. Previous owners name to the top edge of the free front end page. The dustwrapper is in two parts – please see photograph, and is in not great shape stop shipping to the dustwrapper corners and there are large parts missing of the back strip. Tears, rubbers and stains are also present to the back strip. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with sunning. Nasty split to the top corner of the rear fold over crease. Second Printing.
