Royal Octavo, bound in quarter dark blue leather over blue cloth boards. 159 pp. Frontispiece plus thirty-nine additional full-page black & white plates showing facsimiles of various manuscripts, printed books, portraits, paintings and etchings illustrating the progress of English Literature. A fine copy in red cardboard slipcase (tiny splits, light fading).
