About This Item

Franklin Center, PA: The Franklin Library, 1980. Signed, Limited Edition . Hardcover. Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Franklin Center, PA: The Franklin Library, 1980. Large octavo, 303 pp.; Franklin's lavish leather binding of West's 1963 classic tale of internal intrigue in the Vatican - the best-sell in novel in America that year - which in 1960 was committed to the big screen in a film starring Laurence Olivier, Anthony Quinn and a passel of other cinema. See scans. Full black leather, gilt decorated and imprinted, spine panels rib divided, All Edges Gilt, purple silk moire endpapers with matching purple page-marker ribbon. The Franklin Library, doing what they did best. Superbly preserved. With the author's "A Special Message to Subscribers from Morris L. West" (prefacing the novel) and the separate original 22-page "Notes From the Editors". Please review scans. L-franklin1
