The Aldine press was one of the most significant presses in European history. Aldus Manutius, its' founder, was the first major printer to insist on scholarly editing and the first to produce portable books for scholars. The present is a different version of the third edition as its preface is not paginated nor does it contain the genealogical plate or the family history. [see OCLC 19911031]. Bound in full vellum, spine label gilt, all edges speckled blue, book somewhat leaning, covers soiled as usual, internally very fresh.
