The illustrated covers are bright, again with next to no wear. The dust jacket is price-clipped, but is otherwise in excellent condition, with just a touch of wear at the top and bottom of the spine, but no damage, tears or missing paper. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: A picture book telling the story of a selfish giant who, when he forbade children from playing in his garden, also delayed Spring. "the children sneak back one day, and amid the garden bursting into bloom, the giant's heart is melted when he helps a small boy climb a tree, and gets a hug and a kiss in return. The children come to play every day after that, but the little boy that the giant loves doesn't come back until many years later." "Children may not at once see the deeper meanings ... but they will understand ... that the selfish giant was transformed by his one single act of kindness, and that such kindness never goes unrewarded.
