Limited edition of 475 copies on hand-made paper (& 7 on vellum). Set in Caslon old face (impeccable typography by Bernard Newdigate), and with 38 drawings by Lowinsky. - [Clark, Checklist in Myers book decorations of Thomas Lowinsky 12; Ian Rogerson, Shakespeare Head Press 109]. - Slight bump to side edges of the boards and some decolouration at the lower panel (see pictures), else quite fine. This copy from the library of the Belgian diplomat and barrister Fernand Spaak, with his book-plate at inside of the front board. - Note concernant Fernand Spaak (1923-1981): Fils unique de Paul-Henri Spaak (homme d'état belge, ancien Premier Ministre et Secrétaire général de l'OTAN). Lui-même haut fonctionnaire à la Communauté européenne, Fernand Spaak aimait les beaux livres, la voile, l'opéra et les belles femmes.
