Semi-autobiographical novel by PKD that explores drug counter-culture in a dystopian 1994 Orange County, California. Awarded the British Science Fiction Association Award for Best Novel in 1978, it later inspired a film adaptation by Richard Linklater in 2006. . Synopsis

A Scanner Darkly is a BSFA Award winning 1977 science fiction novel by Philip K. Dick. The semi-autobiographical story is set in a dystopian Orange County, California in the then-future of June 1994. It includes an extensive portrayal of drug culture and drug use.
