About This Item
London: Faber and Faber, 1965. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good/Fair / Good. First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 24 × 15cm, 333pp. Alison Uttley's Sam Pig lives in a thatched cottage with Tom, Bill and Ann Pig, and also Brock the Badger. Brave, kind, lazy, vain, and optimistic, he is a very lovable pig and the stories about him are not only remarkable for their gaiety, humour and invention but acquire a particular charm from their author's unique feeling for the countryside. In this book, thirty-five of the best Sam Pig stories are brought together, with Cecil Leslie's illustrations matching the quality of the text. Condition: A good readable copy. The book has spotted foxing to the page edges and endpapers but the main body of text is clean. The title page has a vertical crease. The dustwrapper is faded to the spine, with some rubbing and creasing to the edges but is now within a protective sleeve.
